Builder Recommendations

We purchased a lot in AW and are ready to start looking for a builder. Has anyone had a house built using stone on lower exterior with steel (log cabin look) siding? We also prefer a builder who does the “one stop shopping” ie. the builder sub-contracts or has his own electricians, plumbers, excavator, well, drain field, etc.. I know you are wondering what exactly we are looking for but that’s the best way to describe it. Basically, a mountain style, cabin look preferably or hybrid without paying an arm and a leg. Thanks in advance for any input you may have. John & Jill McKenna

We used Dave’s General Contracting at 304-703-5005 and they were great. Did our house and garage and they also specialize in metal roofing.

Justin Time Excavating is a great company to work with and Gary’s got a phenomenal reputation.

We will also say that Gary and his crew do a awesome job and very professional. Gary and his crew just finished clearing our lot on south branch just past winterberry at the top
Of our lot. We are more than pleased with the work and will continue to use them in the future

    Hi John.

I can recommend Danny Oates at Hampshire homes. My wife is an architect and our house is ‘custom’. Danny and his team has been able to accommodate our needs. My wife handled some of the subs, but Danny can also do it for you if that’s what you want. The comment about ‘not paying an arm and a leg’, well, I can’t speak to that because our house is custom and we may be short an arm or a leg, but that’s our problem, but I think Danny will give you a fair shake.

Oh, and BTW. If you need an architect you can reach me off line and I will provide contact info for my wife, Lucy.

Hey Tom, thanks for the name of Hampshire Builders. We’ve been trying for 8 months to get someone to agree and sign a contract for a major repair we need done. I just left them a voicemail. I sure hope they can get to it soon. Best regards…

      Hi Cheryl.

I was speaking with Danny about our own house and told him I gave him a shout out. He replied that he is absolutely covered up with work, so not sure you’ll be able to schedule anything with him, but worth a shot. He mentioned there were about a dozen new houses going up in AW alone.

      Good Luck
