Moorefield Post Office package delivery

Moorefield Post Office package delivery

Is any one else not receiving packages from the Moorefield USPS at their respective RCS package center? If the package is to big and doesn’t fit in the mailbox outside the gates, Moorefield USPS holds it at their office in town. Is anyone aware of why they won’t drop the packages inside the gates at our RCS like FedEx and UPS does? Thanks so much and Merry Christmas! -Matt ( Potato Ridge lot #35)

Thanks for the update Paul. I appreciate your hard work and the rest of the AW’s commitee members work that help make this a great community. I know there have been ongoing problems with Moorefield Post Office. It took me over 2mons to start receiving my mail when I moved in this past spring and I know AW was pushing hard on this end to help get it set up. It’s unfortunate the state the Post Office in general has become..I remember when it was a revered, reliable and hard working service to our communities that we all welcomed and respected.

I just dropped by yesterday when I was in town and they had 4 packages for me. I never got a yellow or orange slip in the mailbox saying they had packages, which is what they were doing previously. I also saw on a FB page that FedEx did a mass drop off at the high school or somewhere like that. I never received the information, but a lady at the post office said it was in a local paper. Do you suppose they’d call if they had packages for you specifically? Interesting times, to be sure. A friend who’s a postal carrier in another state said that he’s slammed with deliveries.

Hello. I have been complaining about this issue myself. Post office told me because UPS and Amazon has a contract with them. Thats why all packages are going to the post office. I call it crazy myself.
I don’t understand why they are doing this. To me its a inconvenience to me because I have to run post office to pick up my packages that were coming here 6 months ago.

We have been working with the PO on this issue for the last 7 or 8 months now, and a solution is in the works. While there has been a lot of back and forth communications, currently the PO has obtained a package box for each gate, and these are now at the PO. We need to determine next steps as to installation, and while I am under the impressions that the PO will complete this work, I do need to confirm this with the postmaster. This issue is a problem for both the PO and Ashton Woods, and a solution has been a long time to resolve. Hopefully in the next few months.

Thank you all for your patience.

There has been communication with the USPS about this issue. The drivers are contractual and are not allow to enter pass the gate. There are plans to place additional larger postal boxes near the mailboxes for those larger packages.
