Do these property buyers think we’re stupid?

Do these property buyers think we’re stupid?

Or just me? I have received yet another offer letter to buy my 20 acres for about $20k. I just spent more than that clearing it and installing a septic system. The well is next. Now I know these guys don’t know about any improvements made and that I may never get what I paid for the lot if I did want to sell–but $20k? Ridiculous! That’s just insulting to me AND my kids if they inherited it and wanted to dump it. They aren’t idiots to let it go for so little even if time was of the essence. What the heck is with these guys? Are people really selling that low? If any are, please let me know before taking these guys’ pittance! LOL!

I purchased 21 acres (lot 337) for $60K about five years ago. I haven’t developed it at all, but it has tremendous potential. It’s not just Covid19, but the advance of technology and changes in the attitude towards work, means anyone can work anywhere. I also think the big cities have lost their appeal, as crime has begun to rise again post Covid19. For forty years, I commuted three hours a day to my job in downtown Washington, DC, from my home in a MD suburb. All that is over, now, and will never come back. That being said, it is clear to me that the demand for rural living is going nowhere but up. So, hang in there, don’t take any lowball offers. Your property will continue to increase in value.

Yep, I never intended to sell and plan to leave the property to the kids. I’ll have to work that one out with the estate attorneys…

Send them back a letter saying that’d be a nice down-payment! LOLOL Really, undeveloped lots have been going between $69k and $135k. Don’t even give it a passing thought…

You’ll get those offers about once a year, at least I have. Some place in Wyoming offered me $19k for one of my lots (35 acres). I sent it back and told them I may consider for $19,150……….. haven’t heard back yet lol……

We’ve been flooded with offers from real estate speculators this last year. I get at least one in the mail every week, and a couple have even contacted me via text message (!?). I just ignore them, as we plan to retire and live out our days on that land, and pass it on to our kids.

They aren’t stupid, they wouldn’t do it if it didn’t work. People fall on hard times, or things change and property taxes explode to where they can’t afford to live there anymore, or maybe fracking wells pops up all around them and their property values drop overnight, lots of reasons. They roll the dice and see what shakes out that they can flip to 1%ers or extraction industries. It is annoying.

Yep, the spam (and implied assumption of my financial situation) is annoying. But as I mentioned, if someone is on hard times that badly to accept an offer like that, they should reach out to the other AW owners first and give them right of first refusal. They could defintely get more for their property that way if the timing was right for both parties. These lots should be way more atractive these days thanks to teleworking and Starlink. They aren’t in the middle of nowhere anymore with just barely electricity as when I bought my lot. –Rick #268

I think it’s better we just let them waste postages. If it’s email, treat as a spam.
