internet service

internet service

I know a thread exists about internet but I was unable to find it. Hardy net does not offer anything beyond 6mps they said and I have signed up for Starlink and am still waiting on them. Hughes net will offer 30mps but I am hoping to get more. I want to work from our new house and need good internet service and ability to stream tv if desired.

any recommendations are appreciated

    Paul,
Prior to Starlink, we used https://nomadinternet.com and https://unlimitedville.com/. They work with whatever major cell service(ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon) work best at your location. For us, ATT was the one that consistently delivered the best speeds

They were more than adequate to support 2 boys gaming online as well as streaming services.

    Hi, Paul.
We currently use Starlink and it works very well for us.

A strange loophole in Starlink is that you can order the “RV” version from their website which is the exact same dish and hardware but it has the added benefit of allowing you to pause the service (its intended for people who travel for extended periods but then stored away). Their subscription-to-downlink rate is high in our area right now which is why they arent selling dedicated units. By using the RV loophole you would get online immediately but it could be slower than predicted (we get 70Mb down and 15Mb up which is exponentially better than DSL).

That probably sounds confusing but worth considering if you have no other options.

are you happy with starlink? are you able to stream shows with it? i am not a techy as well.

Paul- we are very happy with it. It’s significantly better(faster)than any other options up here while being in the same price point as both HardyNet & the options I listed above.

And yes, we can stream shows while both of my boys play video games online. I fact, once we got Starlink, we cancelled our direct tv service because we finally had internet service that could support all of our needs

    Paul,
Just as Sean, we are very happy with ours. My wife and I can both work remote with it including video conferencing. We stream all of our TV/video over it. We actually load ours up on our camper when we travel as well. We had fantastic Internet service in the middle of Yellowstone park where even cell phones don’t work.

Had StarLink for almost a year. My look angle is perfect regardless of all the trees around the house. LEO is high speed low latency internet that will out perform any other options for the price outside of Fiber.

Just got Starlink. Getting down speed in 50s and up of 10-12. Very nice compared to DSL. Curious about speeds others are getting. Steve Dargusch Lot 282
