Side by side use on Ashton Woods roads
Good morning, My Wife and I bought our property on Ridge Road last spring and are planing to bring our Side by Side out in a couple of week and are wondering what we need to do if anything to make it legal to drive in AW?

Look in the documents page and find Restrictive Convenance, Article XVI. I’ll paraphrase: It says no mini-bikes, ATV’s etc, unless only for ingress and egress, blah blah blah. I take that to mean I can drive up to my neighbor and back.
Now, with that, I think if you don’t act like a fool and respect others property and putt putt around, most of us are fine with it. I have been known to go out for a cruise to put some miles on my machines after they have sat all winter.
There are some people, from either outside or possibly inside the community, that come in and drive like idiots. They are the ones who could ultimately ruin it for everyone.
It could be argued that no restriction can be placed on a side by side via HOA due to the state of WV having an SPV classification for them IF they are registered and licensed as such. We moved here full time in Apr of 2022. We purchased a Polaris Ranger 1000 from Tri-County in Petersburg. We added some comfort accessories. We use our SXS daily for mail pickup at the gate, trash hauling to the gate, working around our property and general travel inside AW. Ours is currently not setup to be street legal on WV public roads. As far as I know, they are no specific rules for operating SXS on AW roads. After all, we pay for the roads in our dues and we use them responsibly.
As long as they are driven responsibly most people have no issue. I have seen a few of the more performance oriented SXS unit driven in less responsible fashion. These are the ones that people complain about.
