Where can we watch Fireworks?

Hi all, I have lived here two years and have yet to see the town fireworks. We’re in a bit of lockdown because the hubby had knee surgery and then caught Covid while at the hospital. I was hoping for just a vantage point where the girls and I can watch them from the car or something, so we can feel like part of the community.
Thank you!

In the past the town set off the fireworks from the city park. We have watched them from a car right off the entrance road to Corridor H, by the Tractor Supply store.

Hope town is still setting them off from that are. Good viewing.

    Hi Cheryl,

The Moorefield Lion’s Club hosts the 4th of July Celebration at our Town Park each year. We’re setting off fireworks about 930 tonight weather permitting. It’s a free event. Its always the first Saturday night in July nearest the 4th. We also have vendors, a free swim day, a parade at 6pm that starts by the library and ends at the park, and family activities all day if you want to spend the day/afternoon up town next year. While you can’t see the ground show from outside the park, there are vantage points from the Corridor, Weimer parking lot, Shop N Save parking lot, Burger King etc. The closer you get the harder it will be to watch from inside your vehicle. Many people pack lawn chairs and sit outside their vehicle at these locations. You can also see several of the fireworks from the movie theater/bowling parking lot behind Wal Mart. It’s probably easiest to socially distance at this location. My parents are older and appreciate this gem of a spot because they don’t feel like they’re trapped by people. Some people don’t like the traffic, so they set up chairs at the post office parking lot and at the wellness center lot too, but these locations are typically crowded and staked out hours before. Hope this helps! Hope your husband feels better and quarantine goes quickly for you!

PS: We’re always looking for new members, so if you’re reading this and would like to join an organization that focuses on community, you have a heart for service, or just want to meet some interesting individuals, let me know. I’m happy to sponsor you. I’m also happy to answer any questions you might have.

    Sincerely,
    Jessica Markwood

YES, Jessica, I would absolutely love adding to the community! Right now my plate is full; the hubby is home recovering from knee surgery. After he goes back to work around mid to late August, I will have more time.

BTW, the eldest daughter didn’t feel well, either, so we didn’t go see fireworks. Next year, it would be great if I could get both my girls to join in the volunteering and have a great 4th, too!
