Spotted Lanternfly – Initial Survey

Spotted Lanternfly – Initial Survey

AWPOA Community,

On Monday, 1/30, WV DNR/DOA came out to perform their first survey for the Spotted Lanternfly.

The following information from them is below:
——-
“We didn’t find any signs of spotted lantern fly on your property. We also checked the spot at the end of the road and the trees along the road. We didn’t find any egg masses, dead adults or Black Sooty mold (commonly found in high populations of SLF). Like I was telling you yesterday I’m not saying it isn’t there its just a bad time of year to collect samples with the adults being dead and the egg mass locations/camouflage. If you would like us to come back out in the late spring or summer and check again we would be happy to do that. Thank you for contacting us and if you need anything in the future please reach out to us.”
——-
We will be taking them up on their offer to perform another survey and possibly set up recurring surveys throughout the year.

Have a great day and rest of your week!

Regards,

Jason T. Williams
AWPOA President
