Veterinarian recommendations

Hi all, We are looking to get our dog established as a patient at a local vet in the event that we need one while we’re at our AW house. I know I saw a a post for vet recommendations quite some time ago but now I can’t find it. Does anyone have any feedback on the local vet options, including any experience with emergency services? Thanks in advance.

We use South Branch Animal Hospital just south of Moorefield. We have found them to be very good. However, if your pet has a significant problem (for example, cancer), they may refer you to other vets that can handle the problem better.

We also use South Branch and they provide excellent care to our guys. Unfortunately due to limited staff and hours you may not get an appointment. I strongly recommend them but be patience if you can’t be seen right away. They are also very good in providing recommendations for emergency care.

Found South Branch too quick to suggest expensive solution to minor problem for our Chihuahua – it was like being in NoVA. For routine care and procedures we drive right by SB and go to Dr. Kittleberger in Petersburg. 2442 North Mill Creek Rd. 304-257-4291. A little further but less expensive and a more common sense approach.

Hello Phil and Ellie her! We use Mountaineer vet in Petersburg or Keyser! They are great cheaper than other vets! They have two places ! The owners are great

If ever in an emergency situation Valley Veterinarian Emergency and Referral Center is very responsive and can deal with all kinds of emergencies that occur at weird hours. My parents Great Dane had bloat, they got him in right away and did emergency surgery, against all odds he fully recovered.

Thanks, Kim. I think this sounds like the place that will fit my needs best. We have a home vet, I’m just looking to establish something in the event of an emergency, so I’ll check them out!
